From Waste to Filament: Experience 3devo’s Dutch-Made Ecosystem at Formnext 2025.
by 3devo on Oct 16, 2025 2:55:22 PM
At Formnext 2025, we’re showcasing how extrusion, recycling, and material knowledge come together to create a complete ecosystem, built to help R&D and industry professionals turn recycled or new materials into new filament, faster and more sustainably.

Shaping the Future of Materials at Formnext 2025
Formnext has always been the meeting point for innovators driving the next era of additive manufacturing.
This year, at Formnext 2025, we’re bringing to Frankfurt a setup that connects every stage of material development, from powder and pellets to filament and finished parts.
Our goal is simple: to show how 3devo’s systems work together as one extrusion and recycling ecosystem, giving labs and industries the ability to experiment, learn, and produce in-house.
Designed and engineered in the Netherlands, these tools reflect the precision, practicality and creativity that define Dutch innovation.
Visit us at Hall 12.1, Stand F139, and see circular material innovation in action.
High-Throughput Extrusion: Recycling PA12 Powder into New Filament
The live setup that will be at the center of this year’s booth uses MJF powder to demonstrate how powder-bed fusion (PBF) waste, including SLS and MJF powders, can be reprocessed into new filament using PA12 feedstock.
At its core, the Filament Maker TWO, features a newly extended air-cooling path and conveyor system that significantly increases throughput and enables continuous production, a configuration shown publicly for the first time.
During the demo, an industrial barrel feeds powder into the extruder through a vacuum hose, creating a fully visible, real-time process that proves how materials can be reclaimed, remade, and reused in-house.
This line represents the next step in 3devo’s evolution: bridging R&D precision with scalable, production-ready output.
(We’ll share more insights from this setup following Formnext.)
Closing The Loop: the Recycling Ecosystem
Recycling is at the core of a circular material ecosystem.
Our second major exhibit showcases the GP20 Plastic Shredder, who when combined with the Filament Maker TWO, and the DW14 Desiccant Dryer, create a full in-house closed-loop recycling workflow from waste to filament.
To visualize the process, we’re featuring a collaboration with University of Surrey, who will display a four-stage set of samples, from waste to shredded particles, to filament, and finally, to a finished product. It’s a tangible example of how plastic waste can be transformed into new filament that gives birth to a new product within the same workspace.
Together, they illustrate the practical value of 3devo’s bundle for recycling applications like Audi’s success story, and how our systems can help research and industry teams dive deeper into sustainable innovation by creating circular material workflows in-house.
Hands-on Precision: Exploring Data-Driven Extrusion
Innovation is not only about materials, but also about understanding them.
The Interactive Sensor Podium brings one of the Filament Maker TWO’s key features to life, its precision sensor system, by visualizing real-time filament diameter and process control data.
Visitors can interact with a live display that visualizes how Filament Maker TWO continuously monitors extrusion parameters, such as filament diameter and line speed, to maintain consistency in real time.
This setup offers a tangible look into the data-driven control that defines Filament Maker TWO, turning an invisible process into a hands-on experience of precision extrusion.
Built in the Netherlands
All our core systems, from the Filament Makers to the GP20 Shredder and Sensor tools, are designed and manufactured in-house in the Netherlands.
This Dutch-made foundation defines who we are: precise, practical and forward-thinking.
It’s what allows us to deliver not just machines, but a reliable, scalable ecosystem that evolves alongside our customers’ projects.
Experience the Ecosystem
From powder and polymers to filament and finished parts, everything we build comes from the same belief: innovation should be hands-on, practical, and sustainable.
We can’t wait to share that spirit with you at Formnext 2025, Hall 12.1 | Stand F139.
